Novus Literae is an ongoing web-based publication which reexamines film, television, websites, video games, magazines, comic books, and other forms of ‘new media’ using the canon of literary criticism. We search pieces for artistic and cultural artifacts, patterns, and details– hunting for meaning and searching for ties to existing pieces. Our reviews are annotations dealing with message, content, theme, plot, artistry, and satire and have nothing to do with value-based assessments or obtuse grading scales.
We blur the line between high art and pop art. We abandon the notion that new media is devoid of art or cultural representation. We recognize that new media is the future of all media.

Feel free to quote any written material on this site as long as proper credit is given. Please do not co-opt entire essays without our express permission. Plagiarism is never acceptable. We understand that serious analysis of some forms of new media (video games, etc.) is rare. However, please be warned that no portion of Novus Literae is peer-reviewed. There are many publications dealing with these topics and we would be happy to recommend some. If you have any questions or you do quote us, be sure to let us know over at the contact page.

Writing Submissions
We publish articles of review, criticism, or satire of topics in new media including television, video games, film, comic books, websites, magazines, hypertext literature, advertising, modern fiction, non-fiction, and poetry.
